Tip 1: Choose cotton fabrics for your clothes to allow your skin to breathe. Then, place powder on your back to avoid perspiration. If you perform activities that induce too much sweating, then you should change clothes often to avoid build up of bacteria on your back.
Tip 2: Shower immediately after doing an intense physical activity, such as sports. Use soft fabric towel to wipe sweat off of your back.
Tip 3: After showering, pat your skin dry with a clean cloth. This is to ensure that no bacteria are left behind that could cause acne. Avoid rubbing the towel against your skin since it could create harsh reactions and skin irritations.
Tip 4: For mild cases of back acne, you can use antibacterial cleansers such as the ones used for treating facial acne. Do not rely simply on regular soap to cure your back acne.
Tip 5: Do not use backpacks unless your back acne is fully treated. This will contribute to additional moisture on your back that promotes the presence of acne-causing bacteria.
Tip 6: You can purchase gels or creams that specialize on treating back acne. Choose a product with at least 10% benzoyl peroxide. If possible, consult a dermatologist so they can prescribe the best treatment for you.
Tip 7: If you want a speedier treatment against back acne, choose products that contain benzoyl peroxide instead of alpha hydroxy.
Tip 8: You can also use natural treatments for treating acne on your back, such as Lye or Sodium Hydrixide soap that is mixed with tea tree oil. Although this may take a while for back acne to heal, it does contribute to achieving softer skin.
Tip 9: Make sure to exfoliate your skin once a week. You can use sugar if you cannot afford to purchase body scrubs. This is very effective in removing all dead skin cells that could cause acne formation.
Tip 10: In cases of severe back acne, you need to consult a skin expert to assess the extent of your skin problem. In most cases, prescription medications such as antibiotics or oral contraceptives, or other topical treatments is recommended.
