Blackheads (also know as comodones) are ugly plugs of oxidised hardened oil that has turned black together with dead skin cells. The cause of the blackhead is over activity of the sebaceous gland making too much oil. This over activity has been associated with hormonal imbalance, stress and diet.
Although blackheads are ugly to look at avoid the temptation to dive straight in and go for maximum squeeze. This may make thing worse by not only damaging the skin and risking scaring but also by forcing bacteria back deep into the skin and making infection worse.

A few tips on prevention:
1. Drink lots of water.
This will help to flush toxins out of your system and reduce the level of irritating toxins trying to exit via your skin. The combination of these toxins and excess sebum oil production are thought to lead excess p acne bacteria which irritate the skin by producing free fatty acids. The bodies defence against this irritation is what causes the inflammatory skin reaction seen as acne.
2. Increase intake of vegetables and fresh fruit.
This will always be good for your skin as well as your general heath providing much needed vitamins and minerals. Try and eat extra portions of these maybe have fruit for snacks instead of the more unhealthy junk food options.
3. Reduce stress.
Stress is linked with hormonal imbalance a major contributor to sebum oil overproduction, as well as many other major health issues. Make a conscious decision to try and reduce the level of stress in your life and find time for relaxing or exercising.
4. Reduce refined carbohydrate and sugar intake.
Male hormone production can be increased by increased insulin production which in turn comes from increased sugar and carbohydrate intake. This hormonal imbalance causes increased sebum oil production which in turn aggravates skin condition.
5. Try and use only natural non oily products on your skin
Pores can be blocked by cosmetics and aggravated by some of the chemicals and oils contained in them. Try and use natural cosmetics and face cleansers.
6. Remove make up thoroughly.
Obviously pores can become blocked with makeup, and this needs to be removed thoroughly with cleansing.

- Remove dead skin and dirt and exfoliate.
It is important to remove dead skin and old makeup to avoid pores becoming blocked, try not to use anything that will leave an oily residue, avoid skin irritation by the use of harsh soaps.
2. Either steam your face or soak with a warm damp cloth for 15 mins.
3. This should have softened the blackhead. Now using a tissue to avoid finger slippage very carefully try and apply gentle pressure underneath the blackhead.
4. be careful not to squeeze too hard and risk skin damage.
5. If this fails make oatmeal scrub with aloa vera juice and baking soda which should help to remove dead skin, excess oil and soften the blackhead.
